SEPTA Correctional Facility

The SEPTA Correctional Facility houses 106 adult felony offenders in Nelsonville, Ohio. The facility was created in response to the severe overcrowding of the state prison system.

Residents are accepted from a catchment area of fourteen Southeastern Ohio counties. Security around the facility is tighter than a halfway house, though looser than that of a prison or jail. The facility houses half of the residents in an east wing and the other half in a west wing. Residents live in dorm-style rooms in the east wing and are grouped all together in the west wing.

The facility offers many programs and activities for residents in which to take part while serving a sentence. Residents can work part-time outside of the facility under certain regulations and classes are offered at SEPTA throughout the day.
